Siamak Pouian

The Tonbak is the major percussion in Persian classical music. Siamak Pouian is an acclaimed Persian Tonbak player in the world and one of the most famous masters of Tonbak in Iranian history.  He is highly acclaimed in Europe, Canada and America as well. Siamak has developed the technique of this instrument to its present-day category of a virtuoso solo instrument.  He has been a music professor at University of California in Santa Barbara for the last 9 years and also he has been teaching in other universities in Southern California.  Siamak Pouian is best known for his ability to improvise. A pioneer in his field, he continues to inspire audiences with his explosive repertoire. He is also currently teaching at Pouian Music Conservatory in Orange County.

Siamak Pouian has performed at many highly acclaimed events throughout the world such as the Warner Brothers 75th anniversary ceremony. Also he has accompanied a great number of prominent vocalist and instrumentalists. Reputable newspapers and art magazines, such as Los Angeles times, have praised his performances and consider him as one of the best in the world.
